Here at FizzPopBANG we live by this rule. So what is it? Well it’s an approach whereby we always look to create 20 ideas, or above, each time we run a brainstorm technique.
Why do we do it?
Our theory is that ideas are stacked like plates in your mind. To get down to the better, more unique ideas, you have to get the obvious ones off your chest first (e.g. ideas 1-8). You then need to release a number of really poor ideas that are locked in your mind. The only way to do this is to say them out loud, so an environment where people feel safe to mention these, at times pretty awful ideas, is a must. Then you can push through to what are often the killer ideas (18 – 20).
Give it a go and see how you get on. We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below…
